A brooch is made with silver wire in the form of a circle with diameter 35 mm. The wire is also used in making 5 diameters which divide the circle into 10 equal sectors. Find: (i) The total length of the silver wire required. (ii) The arc of each sector of the brooch.

Diameter = 35 mm
∴ Circumference of circle = 2 × π × r = 2 × π × 17.5 = 110 mm (approximately, using π ≈ 22/7 or 3.14)
(i) The total length of the silver wire required = Circumference of circle + (5 × 35) = 110 + 175 = 285 mm
(ii) The arc length of each sector: The circumference is divided into 10 equal arcs. Therefore, the arc length of each sector = Circumference / 10 = 110 mm / 10 = 11 mm
