Question:

A hemispherical tank is made up of an iron sheet 1cm thick. If the inner radius is 1m, then find the volume of the iron used to make the tank.

Solution:

Given:
→Inner radius rl = 1m = r1
→Thickness = 1cm = 0.01m
→Outer radius = 1 + 0.01 = 1.01m = r0
→Volume of iron used = (2/3)π(r03 - rl3) = (2/3) × 22/7 × ((1.01)3 - (1)3) = 0.0634m3
