Coagulation → The process of settling of colloidal particles is called coagulation. It is also known as precipitation of the sol. Ex- For coagulation of lyophobic colloid, we add additional electrolytes. Multimolecular colloid → On dissolution, a large number of atoms or smaller molecules of a substance aggregate together to form species having a size in the colloidal range. The species thus formed are called multimolecular colloids. Ex- Gold sol, Sulphur sol, etc. Gel → Gel can be defined as liquid dispersed in solid. Ex- Cheese, butter, etc.
