Draw the V-I characteristics of an LED. State two advantages of LED lamps over conventional incandescent lamps.

The colour of light emitted by an LED depends on its band-gap energy.
The intensity of light emitted is determined by the forward current through the p-n junction.
Advantage of LED lamps over conventional incandescent lamps are :-
i) LED has long lifespan
ii) efficiency of LED is much more than conventional. LED can save up to 90%
