The function of coleorhiza, umbilical cord and germ pores are as follows:
(a) The coleorhiza protects the radicle in some plants that is penetrated by the root in germination
(b) Umbilical cord serves as a blood source for the foetus and as a means of transferring nutrients, proteins, vitamins, etc to the foetus. It also aids in taking away waste products and deoxygenated blood from the foetus
(c) The germ pore is an aperture in the exine layer of the pollen grain where the sporopollenin is absent. The germ pore helps in the formation of the pollen tube and release of male gametes during fertilization.
