How do storage grain losses occur?

Biotic and abiotic factors both play an important role in the spoilage of the stored seeds. Biotic factors such as insects, rodents and abiotic factors such as moisture present in the food grains due to improper drying, humidity and temperature can affect the grains by causing discolouration, loss of ability to germinate and degradation.
