Question:

How does an algal bloom cause eutrophication of a water body?

Solution:

The presence of large amounts of nutrients in waters causes excessive growth of algae called an algal bloom which causes fish mortality. Eutrophication is the natural aging of a lake by nutrient enrichment of its water. Eichhornia crassipes or water hyacinth can grow in a eutrophic lake.
