In a cylinder there are 60g Ne and 64g O2. If the pressure of the mixture of gases in the cylinder is 30 bar, then what is the partial pressure (in bar) of O2 in this cylinder?
30
15
20
12
Solution:
Partial pressure = mole fraction × total pressure moles of Ne = 60/20 = 3 moles of oxygen = 64/32 = 2 mole fraction of oxygen = 2/5 = 0.4 partial pressure of oxygen = 0.4 × 30 = 12 bar
