In meiosis, crossing over is initiated at Pachytene, Leptotene, Zygotene, or Diplotene?

Pachytene stage is characterized by formation of synaptonemal complex which allows the exchange of genetic material between two homologus chromosomes by a process known as crossing over. This also helps in generation of recombinants.
