Question:

Out of starch and ferric hydroxide sol, which one can easily be coagulated and why?

Solution:

Starch is a lyophilic sol which are quite stable and cannot be coagulated easily while ferric hydroxide sol is a lyophobic sol which can be easily coagulated on the addition of a small amount of electrolyte. Hence ferric hydroxide sol can easily be coagulated than starch.
