Question:

Solve linear equation: 3t - 4 - 2t + 33 = 23 - t

Solution:

3t - 4 - 2t + 33 = 23 - t,
LCM of 3 and 4 is 12
Multiply both sides by 12
(3t - 4)12 - (2t + 33)12 = (23 - t)12
3(3t - 4) - (2t + 33) = 4(23 - t)
9t - 12 - 2t - 33 = 92 - 4t
7t - 45 = 92 - 4t
Transpose -4t to LHS and -45 to RHS
7t + 4t = 92 + 45
11t = 137
t = 137/11
