State the significance of Coelacanth in evolution.

Coelacanth is a living fossil which represents an important transition from fish to terrestrial. It is a four-legged animals like amphibians. It has paired lobed fins which extend away from the body like arms and legs. A hinged joint in the skull enabling it to swallow a large prey. An oil-filled tube called notochord which serves as a backbone, thick scales etc.
