Question:

The base of an isosceles triangle is 43 cm. The perimeter of the triangle is 6215 cm. What is the length of either of the remaining equal sides?

Solution:

Let the length of equal sides be x cm.
Perimeter = x + x + third side
2x + 43 = 6215
Transport 43 to RHS
2x = 6215 - 43
2x = 6172
Divide both sides by 2,
=> x = 6172 / 2
=> x = 3086 cm
