Transformation
The exchange of segments of two non-homologous pair of chromosomes is termed as translocation. Crossing over is the process of exchange of segments of non-sister chromatids between a homologous part of chromosomes. Transformation is the process of transfer of DNA from one bacterial cell to another. When genes are closely present, they link together in a group and are transmitted as a single unit; this phenomenon is known as linkage.
