What are the two main ways of generating electricity?

Electricity is generated by two ways:(a) Hydro electricity is generated by running water which drives hydro turbines. India has a number of multi-purpose projects like the Bhakra Nangal, Damodar Valley Corporation, etc (b) Thermal electricity is generated by burning non-renewable fossil fuels like coal, petroleum and natural gas. There are over 310 thermal power plants in India.
