Which ecosystem has the maximum biomass?

The forest ecosystem has the largest total biomass, which represents about 70% of the Earth's total biomass. This is due to the high density of trees and other large plants which store significant amounts of organic matter. Grasslands have a considerable biomass, but it's less than forests. Lake and pond ecosystems have much lower biomass due to their lower productivity compared to terrestrial ecosystems.
