Why are the human testes located outside the abdominal cavity?

The process of spermatogenesis requires lower temperature (2 - 2.50C) than the body and hence testes (site of spermatogenesis) are present outside the abdominal cavity. The pouch is known as the scrotum or scrotal sac.
